The Hungarian Charity Service of the Order of Malta is the hungarian relief organization of the The Sovereign Order of Malta, which has a history of over 900 years. Its motto is the protect of faith and the service of the poor, symbolized by the eight-pointed Maltese cross. Its founding president is father Imre Kozma. Its mission is to provide assistance to those in need, including the sick, elderly, disabled, disadvantaged, homeless, segregated communities, refugees, pilgrims, as well as victims of disasters and wartime events.

In our everyday activities, we take care of 15,000 people, distributing food and clothing to those in need, providing shelter for the homeless, and handling matters for the incapable. Our programs and pilot projects seek practical solutions to severe societal issues: we create jobs in our production plants, build solar parks to provide for the poorest families, offer music education to children living in poverty, and bring health screenings and services to the remotest villages with minibuses.

According to the Maltese approach, true assistance not only alleviates immediate needs but also provides more. The first step in providing help is acceptance, as articulated by father Imre Kozma: "We only accept those we let into our lives." Our colleagues' and volunteer helpers' activities always focus on the individual, which is why the Charity Service was the first to provide glasses to homeless people, introduced the signaling system home care in Hungary, opened the first wheelchair repair workshop, and launched the lung-screening bus. According to the Charity Service's standpoint, the upliftment of marginalized individuals can only be successful if the majority accepts them, which is why reaching out to society and involving people in assisting programs are integral parts of the Maltese mission.

Every help counts.
Yours too!

"The Hungarian Charity Service of the Order of Malta has found its place by the side of the poor. Those we reach, we elevate to the dignity of existence. There are many helpers, but never enough. With your donation, the helpers will be one more." - father Imre Kozma
